UIM Aviation Purpose

UIM Aviation is a ministry field of UIM International. The purpose of UIM International is to develop reproducing, culturally-relevant churches among Native Americans and Hispanics in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. UIM Aviation has promoted this goal by partnering with like-minded mission organizations to minister to people living in the Sierra Madre mountains of northern Mexico. Ministry is currently being developed to reach other indigenous tribes throughout Mexico as well as neighboring, Spanish-speaking countries.

Descendants of the original indigenous population of Latin America live tucked away in rugged mountain ranges. Although the tribes exist independently of each other and speak their own languages, their primary common trait is a culture defined by fear and oppression. The people live in a spiritually dark world and are enslaved by ritualistic beliefs. Such ideas as freedom, love, and forgiveness are unknown to them. UIM Aviation wants to be a part of God’s kingdom work in teaching these people about the saving grace of Christ Jesus.

Furthermore, in the desert climate, local food sources are scant and limited. The indigenous people live in unsanitary conditions and often lack adequate medical and dental care. These communities need help to develop healthier, life-sustaining practices. Missionaries with whom we have worked have established basic sewer control systems, taught villagers how to keep their water sources sanitary, introduced crops and livestock that the people can grow for food and small income, and used government aid to install such energy sources as solar panels. UIM Aviation is working towards better utilizing government-funded relief programs in order to make a greater impact with the Gospel message.

Due to the variety of different languages, many tribal groups are yet without God’s Word in their own language. In the areas where UIM Aviation currently serves, some missionaries are in process of translating Scripture, other missionaries are yet learning words and language structures, and some missionaries are just making contact with new groups. There are yet tribes unreached and languages to be discovered within the rugged territory.
