Wolfgang & Kelly Grotendiek – Durango, Mexico

Pilot/mechanic Wolfgang Grotendiek has been with UIM Aviation since 2000 and Kelly since 2002. They arrived on the foreign field in Chihuahua, Mexico, in 2005. After serving a year there, they moved to Durango, Mexico, where they lived until the base had to close earlier this year. Currently they are in Michigan and serving in a transitional role of ministry development and recruitment.

Wolfgang was born in Solingen, Germany, and came to know the Lord through his twin brother. Once introduced to the Scriptures, Wolfgang understood immediately that God’s Word was Truth. As he learned more, he sought to serve God full-time and, as he was already a pilot, was directed into mission aviation. Wolfgang then completed Bible training through Moody and received his A&P training in Lowell, Michigan at the School of Missionary Aviation Technology. During his one year in Michigan, Wolfgang met Kelly at Walloon Lake Community Church.

Kelly grew up in Byron Center, Michigan and studied architecture at Ball State University. She was discipled by the church in Walloon Lake and later graduated from Moody’s Bible correspondence program.
